Norwegian Ski Coach Honored

In our April 4, 2006 news article, we reported how Norwegian cross-country ski coach Bjoernar Haakensmoen received 7,400 cans of maple syrup as an act of gratitude from Canada for helping Canadian skier Sara Renner during the Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy.

Next month, the two will be reunited when they get the honor of being a part of the Calgary Stampede parade on July 7, the Toronto-based newspaper The Globe and Mail said. But according to the newspaper, the Norwegian coach just did at the Olympics what was natural for him and he thinks that, "anyone should have done it."
