Adventurer Skis Down Cho Oyu

TUESDAY, 4 JULY 2006

British outdoorsman Tom Avery is once again on the way to another adventure. He is planning to ski down the world's sixth highest mountain, Cho Oyu, later this year, the website of the United Kingdom's Telegraph said.

The 30-year old adventurer will be skiing down the 8,201-meter mountain along with two others. One is British climber Kenton Cool and Australian ski instructor Nick Farr. All in all, the descent is projected to be completed in two days. Avery said that the descent will be filled with challenges including the thin air in the higher portion of the mountain and the seracs which are columns of ice in the mountain's lower portion.

According to the Telegraph, the journey is set to start on Kathmandu on August the 26th and the actual descent on skis will be done only 40 days later on October 4. They then expect to be back to the base camp the following day.
