FRIDAY, 8 SEPTEMBER 2006

President Vaclav Klaus taps the foundation stone today for the construction of a multipurpose building for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Liberec in February 2009. The construction is expected to be completed within one and a half years.

The fix grandstand will accommodate 9000 people and a U-shaped grandstand for VIPs can provide 1800 seats. Organizers expect 500 skiers to participate in the championships and 330,000 skiing fans to arrive in the competition.
